“Be water, my friend. — Bruce Lee’s Famous Quote
Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. The quote is about adaptability and being open minded to new experiences and challenges. It suggests that people can gain power by being flexible and accepting changes, rather than resisting them.
Wow! Changing the Hall, Changing Colors!
This weekend was spent painting the walls to brighten up the room and give a new feeling to our students. Many students were looked upon the room with eyes wide open. They were surprised and receptive of the color change.
Why did we change the colors?
The new rug instalment and the new coat of paint gives the room a general change atmosphere of the classroom and the feeling of having a full makeover. Each color has an individual meaning and purpose to why they were picked.
The color’s names & meaning.
As we’ve explained in the past, the rug is a deep blue color much like being deep in the ocean. The color represents the depth of training and hard work our students put into their daily training routine in the classroom. The more intense the training sessions, the deeper they are in the ocean. As a result, all our students are “Training in the Deep.”
The walls have been painted a brighter shade of blue waking up any student who walks in through our doors. This new color is called “Mountain Air.” It gives a crisp and refreshing feeling to our students who are out of breath after intense training sessions. The walls make the overall décor more fresh and brand new. After reaching the peak after a long climb up the mountain, the first breath of fresh air is the most refreshing. As a result, we are “Breathing in the Mountain Air.”
What do we want to be?
Finally, our message to all our students is to become adaptable and flexible to any situation. This doesn’t only apply to the classroom but to general life as well. By this train of thought, we tell our students to “Become Water.” A line made famous by the martial arts legend and Kungfu master Bruce Lee. Water takes the shape of any vessel you put it into. If you put it in a bowl, it becomes the bowl. Water can crash like the rapids of a river or be as still as a lake at dawn. Water is shapeless. Because of its formlessness everyone should, "Become Water.”
Use this philosophy to help with your new year's resolution.
In life:
Emotions: You need to be able to mold your emotions to the situation that is thrown before you.
Temper: You should be able to stay calm in situations where you would normally lose your cool.
Learning Goals:
Clear: Become aware and decisive with what you do and learn. Don’t leave room for confusion or misunderstandings. Make an effort to contribute by helping the community, the classroom, or as a TA.

Understand: Make an effort to understand things quickly and efficiently.
Training Goals:
Power: Make an effort to improve your overall output in the classroom. Raise your voice, punch and kick stronger, move faster.
