China’s Shaolin Kungfu Online Contest Awords 2022 (By USA Shaolin Kungfu Zen Academy)
March 13, 2022 Saturday 5:30-6:30PM
We first want to congratulate all the students who participated in the Shaolin Temple Online Contest. Your hard work will not go unnoticed. Your participation will mark a place in history as a participant in the first worldwide online video submission tournament. Due to the gloomy atmosphere set by COVID-19, the Shaolin Temple took measures in order to brighten up our days of people throughout the world with a friendly contest. They were able to accept over 5000 applications throughout 89 countries and bolster up an audience of over 3,000,000 people. As a result, the Shaolin Temple was not only able to hold a successful tournament but also aid in the evolution of Kungfu as a whole.
Many of our competitors were surprised that there were many different variations of the same forms that they performed throughout the world. Through watching the Award Ceremony Performance, they were able to witness many more forms that may have not been performed as well. Although it was an online event, we wanted to give them the closest feeling that we could to a real tournament and had a podium prepared for them to accept their awards on. Many students who participated were pleased that an event was focused on encouraging them and their growth. We truly believe that their growth is a wonderful thing and that they will continue to grow in many great ways.
Competitor Feedback:
Selena Dong (Blue Black Belt) - After watching all the performances, it really inspires me to work harder. After witnessing all the different styles of forms, I noticed they have one trait in common. They all come from hard work. They all encourage me to work harder and show me just how much I still have to learn.
Dakota Rockhill (Red Belt) - It made me feel really connected to a lot of people. It reminds me that we’re not just in this small community here in Shaolin Kungfu Zen. We’re doing the same thing as so many other places even if it’s in slightly different ways.
Classmate Feedback:
Ethan Carr ( 2nd Degree Black Belt) - I’m looking forward to having more and more opportunites to compete because I missed throughout all these years of quarantine.
