SKZ usually holds an annual celebration to welcome in the lunar new year with a festive party where we help educate friends and family about the New Years traditions and display a Kungfu performance. Due complications caused by COVID-19, we will be celebrating the Lunar New Year in a different way. We will be designing a new method for all to enjoy and learn about the culture we wish to share. This is an act of personal service and not at all motivated by business. We just wish to celebrate the Chinese New Year with our Kungfu family!
Posters and Videos: We will be providing students with educational material where they can learn about the many different methods in which the Lunar New Year can be celebrated.
Lion Dance & Drums: Students will be learning about how to perform basic Lion Dance steps in the classroom. They will also learn about the fundamental drum beats that the lion dance is accompanied with.
Chinese Characters: Students will learn how to write three Chinese characters commonly used during the Lunar New Year. They will learn the meanings and the uses for these characters as well.
The purpose of this celebration is to share Chinese culture with family and friends who may have been unaware of the traditions and celebrations commonly practiced this time of year. This event will not alter anyone’s schedule in any way. The celebration will be integrated into everyone’s average class lessons.
