SKZ Sponsor Leland Bridge Night Performance

On February 1st, four SKZ students helped perform at the Leland Bridge Parent’s Club annual Fundraising Event. The members who performed were Vincent Nguyen, Alan Li, Wilson Hsieh, and Nicholas Banas. SKZ encourages our students to go out more and help aid our community and share our culture.

We encourage our students to volunteer themselves more for performances, and tournaments. If parents and students wish to inform us about more community based events that they would like us to perform for, please let us know. If students are unpleased with anything, they are free to let staff members know. We wish to improve the overall development of our student’s bodies and minds. We would appreciate proper exchanges between student and instructor progressions.

Feelings on the performance:

Vincent Nguyen:

I’m used to performing and don’t get nervous or surprised on stage like I used to when I first started performing. I believe many students should be encouraged to perform more especially if they have shyness or stage fright. For many people, the scariest part is getting on stage; the easiest part is repeating the forms you practice every week.

Nicholas Banas:

I definitely have less stage fright now than when I first came here. Coming to SKZ has helped me gain confidence, strength, responsibility, and flexibility. I highly encourage other students to go to performances, as they are great experiences and will help you a lot in terms of building confidence.

Alan Li:

This was one of my first performances with SKZ, and overall it was a great experience that let me work on performing under pressure. I am generally fairly nervous onstage, but I feel that this opportunity has helped me reduce this to some extent, since, as Vincent said, it’s pretty easy repeating the forms you practice every week.

Wilson Hsieh:

This was one of the very few performances that I have done with SKZ. Naturally, when practicing I felt confident, however, up there in front of everyone, I felt weak and nervous. However, while upstage, I imagined myself as if I was practicing and all the moves flowed out as smoothly as a river. Through this experience, I feel as if my stage fright has been lifted and now I feel as ready as ever to participate in upcoming performances.
